Harry Potter becomes a sport

Broom

If you are a fan of the Harry Potter books you will know that when Harry was at school he played a sport called Quidditch. The game was played with two teams, and each player flew around the sky on a magic broomstick.

Flying on a broomstick is, of course, not possible. But some people have adapted the idea of the game, and are actually playing it as a real sport. The new game is a mix of rugby and basketball. Each team member has a broomstick and the aim of the game is to score goals by throwing a ball through a hoop.

This weekend sixteen teams competed to win the British Quidditch Cup and hundreds of people turned up to watch the matches.
