The problem with badgers

Badgers are black and white wild animals with short, fat bodies. They have black faces with white stripes, which makes them very easy to recognise. They sleep during the day in underground tunnels. They are very popular animals in Britain and they are often characters in children’s film and stories. In many ways, the badger is an iconic symbol of the British countryside.

Unfortunately for badgers, they can be a problem for farmers as they sometimes carry a disease which can spread to cows. However, controlling the spread of the disease is very controversial because it involves killing large number of badgers.
