The Loch Ness Monster

Anyone who has visited the Highlands of Scotland will have heard of the Loch Ness monster. Lock Ness is a massive fresh water lake which is 37 km long and 230 m deep. The loch is surrounded by stunning Scottish scenery and is a popular destination for tourists.

According to some sources, it was exactly 1,450 years ago today that someone first reported seeing an enormous monster in lake. Since then, there have been many people who claim to have seen a strange animal with a long neck. Some have even taken photographs. No one can be absolutely sure whether the Loch Ness monster really exists. In 1987 a sophisticated underwater scanner did detect something big deep below the surface. However, it could have just been a seal.
